David Fincher directed Zodiac (2007). According to interviews and production reports, Fincher spent roughly 18 months researching the Zodiac Killer murders with screenwriter James Vanderbilt and producer Bradley J. Fischer before and during the film. He photographed most of the movie on the Thomson Viper FilmStream digital camera and held contractual final cut on the project. Fincher screened a director’s cut in New York in November 2007.
